Allowing Acceptance

“Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes. Don't resist them; that only creates sorrow. Let reality be reality. Let things flow naturally forward in whatever way they like.” - Lao Tzu

The Challenge:
When life's unpredictable and unwanted curveballs head our way, sometimes our initial reaction is to resist 'what is'. This results in self-inflicted mental suffering.
The [Resistance] Remedy:
Focus your energy on releasing that which is beyond your control. Choose instead, to ground in peace, acceptance, and gratitude.
Thought-Initiator:
At what point in your life did 'being in control' become important to you?
Life will have ups and downs. This is guaranteed to happen. Ironically, it's one of the few certainties of life we actually have. When faced with injustice, tragedy, or uncomfortable confrontation, how we respond will reflect the state of our mental and emotional health.
May the below steps help inspire your acceptance practices:
Subdue Suffering
Endless thinking about the past, refusing to accept the present, and obsessing over what is to come causes mental suffering. Any hope of balance will be shattered when our mental state negatively influences our physical state.

Knowledge [Truly] is Power
Educate yourself on the damaging physical impact of mental suffering and its dysfunctional relationship with stress. There is countless information available online or from your trusted Doctor about the harmful effect of continued stress on the body.
Your physical body could be negatively impacted by a myriad of deadly diseases.
Mindfully Respond to [Your] Thoughts
When you react from a healthy, grounded place, you tend to apply calm logic no matter the circumstance. You find yourself in complete control of your emotions and at peace with that which surrounds you.

Picture a flowing river with scattered leaves on its surface. Imagine if your thoughts were the leaves. Simply observe the leaves passing by. Watch without identifying the detail.
In the same way, you are not defined by any specific thought, regardless of how all-consuming it may feel.
You are not your thoughts, nor your emotions. You are your Values.
The below points may help along your journey:
The breath is a lifeline always available to us. Diaphragmatic breathing not only calms the nervous system but also oxygenates the brain, all while connecting us to the present moment.
From the sensations at the tip of our nose when inhaling cooler air, following it down into the belly, feeling the physical expansion, feeling the change in breathing direction, and following the cooler air out of the nose is calming, centering, and a free technique available to us all.
There are several breathing techniques and meditations available to help us feel calmer, energised, focused, creative, etc.
Practice Makes Perfect:
Ensure that you add the most suitable breathing practices to your custom toolset to help train your mind (as you'd train your body) to return to your nourishing breath when support and healing are required.
Observe your thoughts, be grateful that your mind is trying to help you resolve a particular challenge, then respectfully withdraw from the detail and watch the thought flow along the river, continuing to be present in This Moment.
Uninhibited [Daily] Joy and Appreciation
Once we make peace with 'what is', we are not approving the situation. We're accepting the moment and making a decision to either:
Remain true to your values and take healthy next steps.
Accept the lesson.
Appreciate the opportunity to know yourself better.
Grow into your most authentically divine self.
Continue to allocate your energy to actual priorities in your life, as defined by you. Pay no mind to the potential pettiness.

Or, fight against reality with compulsive thinking
This will not change the current or the past moments.
This choice unlocks the Pandoras Box of negative emotions
You're actively distancing yourself from authentic living.
Inauthenticity is not a sustainable way of life.

Let's recap, you've:
Chosen to protect your mental and physical health by striving to accept things beyond your control.
Established a readily available custom toolset of support for daily challenges.
Congratulations!
You're on your way to breaking the unhealthy cycle of repetitive self-inflicted suffering. Welcome to conscious living. Watch your life blossom amplified by your inner strength and self-love practices.
Live in light and watch yourself grow into the abundance you deserve.
